The Fit

Our shirts are either Bespoke, where over 20 measurements are taken to create the perfect fitting shirt, or ReadyBespoke whereby we create your shirt from scratch based upon the measurements that you have provided. Either way, the result is a great fitting shirt and we have outlined below some of the elements that make it so.

Shoulders

The seam where the sleeve attaches to the body of the shirt should hit close to the top of your shoulders. Mass brands tend to cut their shirts too big (to fit more people, of course), and so you’ll often see the seam sliding down onto the arm.

Collar

You should be able to button the collar easily with about enough room for two fingers to fit, any more and it’s too loose, any less and it’s too tight. Note that the collar size can be a bit smaller or larger than your true size if you rarely wear ties, i.e., you rarely button the top button.

Chest

The shirt should fit comfortably around the chest, under the armpits and across the upper back, giving you a full range of motion. Our classic ReadyBespoke shirts allow for greater movement and a more relaxed fit, whilst our tailored ReadyBespoke shirts are cut to feel snug, but not too tight.

Body/Waist

The shirt should taper from the chest to the waist, following the contours of the body and creating a clean line (no excess fabric) between the shirt and pants when tucked. Again, our classic ReadyBespoke shirts tend to be a little more relaxed in the waist, whilst our tailored shirts would be more tapered.

Sleeves

The shirt should have a high armhole which allows for a tapered sleeve that follows the shape of your arms without excess fabric. When buttoned, the cuff should fall right at the base of the thumb (although there is some personal preference allowed here).

Length

Shirts lengths are a matter of personal preference and with a bespoke shirt you can specify exactly how long you would like your shirt to be. With our ReadyBespoke collection, our classic shirts tend to be a little bit longer and therefore should be tucked in at all times. Our tailored shirts and seasonal collections have a shorter shirt length which allows you to tuck the shirt in, but are not so long that it can’t be worn out.
