Giscours is 90 hectares in size and is spectacularly located at the southern beginning of the Margaux appellation. Typical Garonne gravel soils with deep drainage, also clay. Since the takeover of the winery by the Dutch investor Eric Albada Jelgersma, an almost indecent amount of money has been invested. The vineyards are densely planted, which also significantly reduces yields. This only results in around 500g of grapes per vine. Giscours is one of the top châteaux here. Only Margaux and Palmer stand alone at the top. Climatically warm vintages such as 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2020 suit this cool terroir incredibly well. In warm, sunny years, Giscours is one of the megastars of the appellation.

Pirmin Bilger: The Giscours once again radiates that special something. In the bouquet, the ripeness of the vintage and at the same time the special freshness with ethereal, cool aromas such as mint are convincing. Deep black and red fruit, with mineral notes of graphite. This is a beautiful and seductive Margaux perfume. Depth and complexity with enormous appeal. On the palate it's totally built on finesse, with aromatic power. Lots of black cherry, plus currants and strawberries. The tannins are on the extremely silky-fine side and give the Giscours a particularly noble and creamy, smooth drinking flow. Together with its good extract sweetness, it shows a very good length with a spicy finish. Delicate roasted aromas of coffee come from the well-integrated use of wood. With the 2020 vintage, Giscours also shows itself in absolute perfection.
